I’m excited today to join in on the Doodle Bugs Five for Friday Linky Party! It’s been a random kind of week around here so this is the perfect opportunity for me to post and share about some random things I’m loving.
Today during calendar we put on our 95th sticker…the 100th day is right around the corner and I am so excited! I love celebrating all that we have accomplished this year in first grade.
UPDATE: Due to popular request, these ten frames are available as part of a calendar pack here or in a separate ten frame pack with color options here. π And for a more detailed look at how I use these during calendar time, check out this post here!
I am loving this big book I found from Scholastic (here)! It provides the perfect introduction to non-fiction text features. My kids love it and I love the quality examples of each feature that are provided in one book. Now we can take what we’ve learned and start hunting for text features in other books and start using some in our own writing.
This 120 pocket chart had been sitting in my Amazon cart for months before I finally decided to go ahead and buy it. I’m so glad that I did. It is from Carson Dellosa (here) and has been such a useful resource for my kids as we enter the realm of place value. We have been using it left and right…and I am currently on the hunt for more 120 chart games!
This week I used little vertical ten frames and Starburst to practice grouping tens and to really get my kids using the whole “tens and ones” language. This was probably one of my better ideas…sugar is so engaging!
I’ve been working on a vowel team packet and I’m trying out some of the pages on my kids this week. Hopefully all goes well and I will have this posted to my store soon!
I love a little bit of random! Happy Friday, all!

I love your ten frames with the stickers! Are they laminated and do the stickers come off, or do you just print new ones each year? Also, I love your vowel team worksheets!

Do you have those ten frames for sale anywhere, or would you please direct me in the right direction to purchase them? I love that idea for getting to 100 days! π

I love the ten frames, too! I will check them out on TPT. Do you hang them up all at one time for the year or add each one as you go?
Bethany Louise says
Thank you! I hang up the ten frames up to 180 at the beginning (the number of school days we have) and add one sticker each day.

I love all of your ideas! I especially like your ten frame ideas. Ten frames are great tools for students to use. Your ten frame idea about keeping track of the school days is a great visual. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much!

Would you consider selling your ten frames in a separate file? I absolutely LOVE them but have all of the other calendar items already. Thank you!!

Hi Katie, I am in the process right now of making a file of just the ten frames. It should be up within the next few days! Thank you!

I love your ten frames and I bought the pack! Can you tell me where you got the stickers you used?
Bethany Louise says
Thank you so much! All of the stickers come from Teacher Created Resources. Any 1-inch sticker should do. I'm waiting for my stickers in the mail and then I am going to do a blog post showing them so watch for that! Thanks! π

I bought the tens frames – LOVE!!!! I am staring at my 100s blue chart (similar to yours from Amazon) which won't stick to my wall in my new room this year. I'm trying to decide if I need them both. In addition, our grade level bought a magnetic 120 chart, and I have a 200s chart!! I love my 200s chart because it shows the pattern of numbers. Any advice? Thanks in advance!!

Can you tell me more about the starburst making tens activity? I am trying to find lots of good ideas to help my firsties understand bundling ten. Thanks!

Will the making tens Starburst activity be part of the tens frame file too? The ideas are connected.
